• I'm cheating a bit because I've been boycotting them for some time now, because of the matters you raise and also because of their support for the George W Bush presidency of the USA.

• I have been boycotting ExxonMobil for many years, which for my part has not been any serious inconvenience as I have not owned a car during that period. I do however consider it my duty to remind car owners at every (reasonable) opportunity about their duty. You just HAVE to keep saying it, hence my pledge. Annoy your friends and family. Pester, cajole, persuade even. Just, please don’t stop.

• If a lot of people boycot Esso/Exxon world wide then this will force then to lower their price of gas . This strategy was successful, if you recall, with MacMillin /Bloedel the forest giant, when they wanted to log the old forest on Vancouver Island Canada. It took a few years but the boycot forced this huge company to stop the logging. If this can be done with an unknown product( who is aware of the maker of the lumber product one buys?) Then it surely will work with a very visible company like Esso/Exxon. The boycot will not hurt the consumer since they can buy gas from Shell or BP or any other one until Esso drops the price to about $0.60/litre. If the price goes up again, repeat the process. Show the big oil that the consumer has the power!

• I am not sure if it will really help anything against global warming. If you will boycott Esso they must lower their prizes get boycotters back and to prevent that more people will boycott them. I do not need to explain that lower prices will lead to a higher expenditure of petrol. I seriously doubt your motives, you want boycott Esso but only because they are the worst environment-offenders. All petrol companies are environment-offenders, but hey, that’s because they are petrol stations. So what if Esso is the worst, one of them has to be the worst. I just think it's hypocrite to boycott just the worst offender. If you really have balls you must boycott all petrol companies, but I guess you don’t want that either. Don’t pick on just one company, it will just work the opposite.

  You may very well be correct that this will do nothing for global warming. As you pointed out, all oil companies polute; it's the nature of the beast. I still feel if you want to choose one to b-o-y-c-o-t-t
  ( thanks again for the correction) why not choose the worst. By the way, I don't believe I stated that this was to save the environment. I don't believe you or anyone on this earth can do that. Lots of talk though.
  It is to save the amount of cash I and many others pay at the pumps.
  Less aggression on your part would be appreciated by one of the natives of the country that liberated yours at one time in the past.

  I'm sorry you felt offendet. My statement wasn't a reaction on your story of November 20th, it was a reaction on the "I will boycott esso" statement. However I understand you felt offendet, I think it's not right to use a sixty year old liberation to restrain me. May I not criticize American, English and Canadian people becouse of that? That's what I call a sophism...
